Process Of Washing Your Hair
Lather, rinse, repeat…lather, rinse, repeat! We couldn’t have more simple instructions - but is this really the correct and safest way to wash our hair? We need to make sure that we are treating our hair with respect and that we know all of the necessary steps that must be taken before, during, and maybe even after we wash our hair in order to keep it healthy.
1. Comb (not brush) out your tangles before you wet your hair. This makes it easier to wash your hair.
2. Make sure that your thoroughly wet your hair in the shower. It is best to start with warm water because it will help to open the cuticles of your hair and to wash out all of the oil and dirt. However, when rinsing out your hair try cold water to help close the cuticles. Added Bonus: cold water will also help your hair to shine!
3. Using your fingertips to stroke your hair and help to relieve it of all of the hair products that you used during the day (hairspray, gel, and other styling aids).
4. Then, pour a dollop of shampoo in the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together, and then apply the shampoo to your scalp. You should put the shampoo on your scalp and not at the ends of your hair, as the shampoo would dry your hair’s ends and cause it to weaken and split. Also, do not mix your hair all over your head as you shampoo because it will get all tangled up.
5. Rinse shampoo out with cold water.
6. More often than not, we need to shampoo our hair for a second time. The purpose of the first shampoo is to clean the oil and dirt off; the second shampoo is supposed to let the shampoo treat our hair. So, repeat the process, but let the shampoo sit on for around a couple of minutes.
7. Rinse the hair completely after this.
8. To get the excess water off your hair, just squeeze the water out. Do not pull or tug at the hair because the hair is at its most delicate when it is soaked. When the excess water is out, apply a dollop of conditioner and apply it along the hairline, the nape and the ends of the hair. Pile your hair then inside a shower cap and let the conditioner stay there for around ten minutes.
9. Rinse it off completely.
